The daily grind

image

This is a good example of the kind of thing I do on a daily basis.  If I am not working on a serious project, I mostly sit around and do these kind of basic perspective prac sheets.
It might not look like much, but these sheets are very good at conditioning you to make very tight lines and very fine measurements.
What you see here is simply a look into my process and what it is taking for me to become a good artist.

random actor dude

01as you have probably figured out by now, I have a couple of things I revert back to when I am completely out of Ideas for what to draw. This is how I drawing like this comes about:

I google something simple and dumb, like “hot actor” or “male model”

when I then hone down a face from the thousands that stare back at me from the screen, either because it is an actor or model I like or because he has some features that I would like to draw.

Then I google the specific name of that actor, whereupon another slue of pictures appear for me to chose from.

I usually chose the picture that is a combination of great quality picture and interesting angle of the face.

in development

tempwhat you see before you is a development sketch. this is a sketch of what a character of a game might look like in the early stages.

The great thing about this drawing is that it so so far from what the finished result is going to be.

I have a very clear picture in my mind of what this character (emily) and what you see here is pretty far from what I had imagined. Still this kind of work is what will eventually lead you to the holy grail awesomeness.

So tomorrow I hope to show you something more and hopefully something better that gives you an idea of what kind of game I am creating.

zombie

26

I have been working on a zombie project for a couple of weeks now, but don’t worry, it’s not something you are going to see for a while.

Anyway, I have been working on creating the origin of this zombie infested world, without even once seeing if I would be able to actually draw a zombie.

As it turns out, I can. It may not be the best thing I have ever drawn, but It exists, and there is some thought process there… I mean behind the drawing, not in the zombies head.
