recently showed you a group of pictures of this character with various expressions. However, after I looked at them, I mean really looked at it, the whole thing just looked a bit creepy.
That is why I chose to redo it. I had made quite a bit of progress, but in the end, I chose to scrap the entire thing after, i Looked at it and it just looked… bad.
This little detour has, however, cost me some time on the project, But I still hope to have it finished some time soon.
I have a problem with my portfolio. I don’t really have one… well, not an impressive one, anyway.
That is partly why I started blogging daily again, to really boost my portfolio. One of the reasons that my portfolio is underwhelming, is that for the longest time I have been focussing on furthering my technical skill in terms of drawing and not of showing off my creativity. Simply put, I can draw a figure from reference in less than 15 seconds, but I am rubbish if you actually give me a task.
That is why I gave myself a task today. It was really quite smile, redesign a recognisable character.
Because I am so into Disney, and because they have some of the most recognisable characters in the business, I settled on snow white.
What I tried to do here, was to imagine snow white if she lived in the 1860’s rather than in the 1400 hundreds when the movie takes place.
I can’ say if I think I succeeded I doing this, usually I can only tell, if a drawing is good 2 or 3 days after the fact. For now all I can say is that it is present.
