landscapes

landscape_01I have been house-sitting for my parents these last couple of days which has luckily coincided with some truly great weather.

This means that I have had the possibility to work outside, which I have not taken advantage of. As I explained yesterday, I have been spending most of my time inside working on my perspective skills.

That Is why I decided that today would be the day that I went outside and actually enjoyed the weather, by drawing this, somewhat boring, landscape from a park a couple of blocks from my parents house.

I know this is not the most exciting display, but I need to learn to do these kinds of setups, so if I can keep to my word this time, there is a good chance you will be seeing more of this kind of stuff in the future

Mixing it up… see what I did there

As some of you might know, I have been spending the last couple of months trying to become a better concept artist.
This is an uphill battle, because my skill level still leaves much to be desired.
Still I am not about to give up, and in that spirit, I have drawn this hand mixer.
It accrued to me, that whenever I do something concept art-ish, I always do space ships or guns or something cool. That is why I decided that it would be fun to try and design something a little more low key, something that maybe didn’t need to be all that futuristic.

On my way home

122on of my favorite movies is the french classic Amelie.

One of the reasons I love this movie is the fun way that they tell a story and establish characters through their quirks.

Ever since I saw that movie, I have wondered what my life would look like, if it were explained as though I were a character in Amelie. So, While I don’t have all of the quirks down, that would define my character, I do know of one; I love riding in trains.

I know that allot of people hate it and think it’s about as pointless as waiting in line, but there is something very mesmerizing about leaning your head against the cold window and watching the world zoom past you.

There is very few things that are better than listening to a good audiobook or some great music and just get lost in the moment when you’re on a train.

portraits

krissiThis is my cousin.

We went to the same highschool and hung out allot as teenagers, so even through we don’t talk much anymore, I still consider her a friends. That however, is not why I drew her today.

for some reason, portraits of this particular girl, is something I keep coming back to. some of the first drawings I did, when picked up a pencil and paper were of her and every 6 months or so I have draw a new portrait.

these portraits have started to become a pretty good indicator of my progress.

Armor

One of the ways I know I’m still learning, is when I try to do stuff like this.
With this drawing, I was trying to for something inspired by “snow white and the huntsman”, but what I ended up with was a girl looking slightly puzzled about her ill fitting armor.
Well, I still have allot of time to learn, luckily I small in no rush.
